Catalyzing Change

Moving from Managing to Catalyzing Change

On November 10, 2018, the Reinvention Collaborative welcomed a plenary panel composed of distinguished higher ed. leaders—Richard Feldman, Interim President, University of Rochester; Marlene Tromp, Provost & Executive Vice Chancellor, University of California, Santa Cruz; Tobin Smith, Vice President for Policy, AAU; and Amy Burkert, Vice Provost for Education, Carnegie Mellon University—each of whom individually and in conversation addressed the theme of “Moving from Managing to Catalyzing Change.” This panel was followed by a concluding common discussion among conference participants rather than a series of break-out sessions, one result of which was discussion of how best to advance the case for basic pedagogical standards that would extend throughout the research university landscape, if not beyond.
