Cecilia Pang
According to Cecilia, “My research/creative work philosophy is rooted first and foremost in my passion for making art. I want to keep my art vital by exploring creative new form and content and by venturing into unconquered territories; to take the road less traveled. I follow this dictum, as a director/filmmaker, by striving to awaken the powers of thought, feeling, passion, inspiration and aspiration, through creations of daring new visions and thinking “outside the box.”
CU Theatre Directing credits include Jesus Christ Superstar, The Dance and the Railroad, Marisol, Go Lysistrata!, Here I Am Here I Stay, The Grapes of Wrath, Breaking the Code, Peeru Gunto and Alice in Wonderland or Not.

The Greenhouse Effect (2010), It Has Not been Easy (2007); What Price Passion (2006): Official selection at TOMI film festival; Little Tiger (2005): Official selections at: Vancouver Asian Film Festival, [Dis]Orient Asian Film Festival, The Indie Gathering (2nd Place Documentary Feature); Gold Mountain Ballad (2004): Official selection at Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival; and The Hands that Build Shakespeare (2003), screened at Denver PBS, Channels 6, 8, 12.
A Fulbright research scholar in Hong Kong (2010), Cecilia is currently working on a documentary film on Hong Kong Cantonese Opera as a Conduit to Connect Culture, Creativity and Curriculum. She also serves as the Artistic Associate for the Qi Shu Fang Peking Opera Company in New York.
Leslee Broersma
Leslee Broersma has been teaching photography and digital art in the Libby Arts RAP since 2009. Prior to joining the faculty in Libby, Leslee taught courses in ATLAS’s Technology, Arts and Media Program and the Art and Art History Department at CU. Her work as a photographer and video artist has been shown nationally at the Benton Museum of Art at the University of Connecticut, the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, Massachusetts, and the Temple Art Gallery, Tyler School of Art, in Philadelphia. She is the recipient of several prestigious grants including: a WESTAF/National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, a New Forms/Andy Warhol Foundation Project Grant and a Colorado Council for the Arts Fellowship. Leslee’s goal with students, whether they are first-year students or graduate students, is to guide them to become self-directed learners.
Tyler Alpern
Tyler Alpern is an artist and educator with a long association with the University of Colorado. He was educated at Occidental College in Los Angeles, at two different schools in Rome, Italy, and earned his MFA in Painting from the University of Colorado. His artwork can be described as technically accomplished, narrative painting with an expressive style and a contemporary slant. A constant source of inspiration and learning are the college students of all ages that Tyler has been teaching since 1989. Working together with his students and others, Tyler has created a number of murals at the University of Colorado and on University Hill. Tyler's teaching philosophy is that Art is full of "yeses" and possibilities. There are a myriad of correct answers and different wonderful ways to do things. He helps students find the individual solutions that work best for them. He designs his classes so students acquire skills in a logical order, yet early on have the independence to develop their own ideas and styles. Teaching art to non-artists is rewarding because it helps foster visual thinking, idea development, adaptability and the creative process, skills that are useful in every academic discipline and career.
